Thank you for visiting the Northeast Behavioral Health Center website. Dr. Chrissy Stabler is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.  She has 10 years of experience providing evaluation and therapy for children, adolescents, and their parents. Northeast Behavioral Health Center emphasizes the use of empirically supported, evidence-based approaches in treatment.  Services offered include individual and group therapy within the behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness theoretical frameworks. Dr. Stabler has specialty training with individuals who have been diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disabilities (such as an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Learning Disorders); thus, additional considerations are taken into account when working with children who have those co-occurring challenges. It is Dr. Stabler's goal to help her clients understand and treat concerns that are causing problems in their day-to-day life. Although Dr. Stabler specializes in treatment of children and adolescents, she also works with emerging adults and adults.

A holistic approach is used when working with clients. This means that steps are taken to collaborate with parents, teachers, pediatricians, and other supports within the individuals environment when developing treatment plans. It is important for Dr. Stabler to work with her clients to find practical approaches that can be incorporated into everyday life.

Specializing in Children, Adolescents, and Families:

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy can be a complex process in which healing and behavior change come about through regular sessions involving the client and therapist. Although the focus of individual therapy is on improvements in functioning for the client, in some situations it is beneficial to include the parents, siblings, and other family members in the process.

Group Therapy

Dr. Stabler currently offering group therapy for children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties social functioning. I use the empirically supported Social Thinking (r) framework, along with other social skill training content to address challenges in these areas. Groups offer the benefit of peer feedback and discussion in a positive and supportive environment. A parent support group for parents of children 5 and under diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder will be starting later this Fall.

Parent Support

In working with children, parent involvement is often a crucial component.  Dr. Stabler works with parents, individually or with children, to better understand the function of their child's behavior and to determine the most beneficial approaches to address these undesired behaviors.  Having a better understanding of why behavior is occurring is necessary to develop appropriate responses.

Dr. Stabler also works with parents on stress management and to help them learn ways to balance the demands of family, work, and personal needs.

Evaluation - Coming Soon

Dr. Stabler offers a variety of evaluation options, each with the goal of identifying challenges and offering solutions. Types of evaluations include emotional/behavioral, developmental (Autism Spectrum Disorders), cognitive (intellectual and gifted & talented), attentional (ADHD), and psychoeducational (Learning Disorders) evaluations. The appropriate type of evaluation will be determined following a consultation session.

Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Dr. Stabler has specialty training working with children with a developmental disorder, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disorders, Attentional Disorders and Cognitive Disorders. She also has extensive experience working with children who have sensory difficulties. She helps address areas of difficulty that are impacting children and families while taking into account the symptoms related to these disorders and uses empirically supported treatments with these populations.
